50th - One Tough Speaker Mic

 
In the OTTO Lobby of 10 W. Main Street is a shadow box that serves as a testimony to the importance of our quality and the unique and demanding applications that our products face every day. Enclosed in this case is a speaker mic that was heated to the point where the plastic housing, flex relief and Push-to-Talk button began to melt. The heat also took the coils right out of the cable along with some of its length, and in some sections the insulating jacket burned. This wasn’t done in a test lab, this was attached to a firefighter when this event occurred. Injured, the firefighter was rescued and has fully recovered. The speaker mic never failed to function and it still works, even in its severely damaged condition. 

We appreciate the contributions and sacrifices that our public safety officials make every day, often risking their lives in the process. At OTTO, we recognize the responsibility that comes with supporting demanding applications.
