50th - A5 Epoxy Applicator

Jack Roeser's creativity has produced over 40 patents.  One machine he designed in the mid 60's spawned a whole division at OTTO.  In order to consistently apply clean tight seals to the switch assembly, Jack designed and built an innovative machine that dispensed epoxy.   A key customer was impressed with the quality and consistency of the epoxy application and contracted to purchase one of these machines.  The A5 Epoxy Applicator became the first product sold from the newly formed OTTO Equipment Division.  Although OTTO was founded as a switch company, sales of epoxy mixing and dispensing machines became an important part of the business.  Other products included the A3-4 and the A9 automated dispenser.  Sales from this new division continued, soon exceeding one million dollars per year.  Eventually this unit was sold to the 3M Corporation, but it contributed significantly to OTTO's development through innovation and capital growth.  This dispensing technology is still being used today.
