  • Our Business Development Manager – Defense Sales will provide an exceptionally high level of support in both sales and technical guidance to OTTO customers.

  • Specifically, the Business Development Manager – Defense Sales will:

    • Increase OTTO’s visibility and sales with key contacts in the US Federal agencies and Military Departments.Initial emphasis will be on the Department of Homeland Security, The Department of Defense and the US Army. Other targeted accounts will be supported through regular visits, phone contacts, e-mail, trade shows and other channels.
    • Develop and drive closure of sales opportunities for assigned accounts.
    • Communicate effectively with customers to educate them on OTTO products, keep them up to date with the latest OTTO Products in support of building OTTO’s business and brand within the Federal Market.
    • Achieve and/or exceed bookings and sales goals for the assigned accounts.
    • Collaborate with team members to identify new opportunities, set strategy, align requirements and develop plans for execution.
    • Develop plans and strategies to achieve market penetration and exposure for the OTTO brand and products.
    • Serve as the primary contact for customerfocused requests, pre-sales and post-sales support, and provide the first level of technical support to customers.
    • Deliver regular feedback to engineering and sales teams to enhance existing products and assist in future development projects.
    • Is accountable for account success and present growth strategy to supervisor and the Director of Sales.
    • Support customer requests for information, request for quotes and request for proposals using technical and operational information to address product requirements.
    • Complete required sales, forecasting, and trip reports.
    • Efficiently plans customer-related travel to meet with as many customers as possible during a single trip.
    • Collaborate with Marketing to plan and attend trade shows.
    • Use Salesforce.com to manage CRM and to develop and opportunities funnel for assigned accounts.
    • Monitor upcoming requirements, remain informed of contract execution and technology developments within the industry.
    • Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
  • What you’ll need to bring to the table:

    • Bachelor’s degree desired.
    • Minimum of 5 years sales experience in Defense Sales.
    • Classified, or higher, security clearance desired.
    • Military radio communications industry experience strongly desired.
    • Experience with RF technology, two-way radio accessories, and intercoms used in commercial and military products.
    • Required to successfully balance travel and workload. Must be effective at remote communication with personnel at OTTO HQ.
    • General knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Salesforce CRM experience desired.
    • Ability to travel for customer meetings and tradeshows, 30%-50%.
    • Ability to focus on details, execute strategies, be flexible and decisive, and build strong working relationships with peers and customers.
    • Professional sales and marketing skills; professional demeanor; presentation and public speaking abilities.
    • Must be team oriented with selfless attitude toward success.
    • Strong project management skills, good attention to detail and follow-up skills.
    • Availability for non-standard or extended work schedule.
