Responsible for leading the Engineering Department, directing all product design and development activities of the Company and providing technical assistance to other organizations on issues related to product design or process.
Senior staff member representing Engineering
Leads a multi-discipline team of technical staff, including direct managerial reports, design, staff, project and CAD engineers.
Provide leadership to the product design and development activities of the company including milestone management, technical supervision, staffing and staff career development.
Responsible for delivering new products on-time, to specification and within cost targets.
Development/recommendation regarding new products and technologies for development by the Company.
Establishes and manages the budget and operational objectives of the Engineering Department.
Provides technical guidance to engineering teams and technical assistance to other organizations of the Company as required.
Experience with working directly with customers, making presentations, customer visits and representing the company at trade shows.
Extensive knowledge of tooling and tool design.
Develops and maintains good relationships with internal and external stakeholders, primarily Quality, Sales and Manufacturing.
Implementing best practice engineering methods. Experience with designing products for lowest cost manufacturing
Supporting established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies.
Finding and implementing ways to improve cost-efficiency.
Knowledge of CAD, mold flow, PCB design and other engineering software packages
Knowledge of ISO, AS, Safety and other industry standards
Experience with patents
Must understand and utilize a phase gate system for product development
Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
BS degree in Engineering plus a minimum of 10 years experience in an engineering environment.
Experience with Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Materials engineering disciplines.
Strong computer skills
Natural leader with strong interpersonal skills
Minimum 5 years prior managerial/supervisory experience.
Excellent oral, written, presentation and organizational skills.
Project Management experience.
Travel as needed
