Quality Engineering Manager - Controls Division

  • Provide leadership in all Quality Engineering activities including Production Line and Engineering Project Management and customer satisfaction for the Controls Division. 

     

    • Directly supervises employees within the Quality department.Carries out administrative and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Plan, coordinate and head quality programs to ensure consistent production of products adhering to OTTO, customer, government and regulatory standards and requirements.
    • Plan, organize and direct the activities of the Quality Engineering staff ensuring they provide the necessary technical support to sales, manufacturing and engineering to achieve OTTO key objectives.
    • Develop and manage the various quality information (reports), data analysis and guidance to quality metrics team for all production lines. Develop, coordinate and maintain the company SPC program for assigned production lines.
    • Responsible for the supervision of all quality activities of advanced quality and reliability planning including but not limiting, the qualification plans, FMEA’s, FMECA’s, Control Plans, FAI ensuring quality and reliability for new product requirements are met.
    • Coordinate the resolution of customer related issues.
    • Effectively interface with the other departments to conduct analyses, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests.Direct, coordinate and advise personnel in special test procedures to analyze components, processes and finished product to determine conformance to specifications.
    • Coordinate and participate in customer’s product/process audits and visits to resolve product issue.
    • Provide support to the development of OTTO’s supplier base and participate in supplier’s audits.
    • Provide support to OTTO’s current vendor base and development program.
    • Assist in the departmental annual budget plan.
    • Develop policies & procedures to continuously improve OTTO’s Quality Systems.
    • Participate in the maintenance of OTTO’s ISO 9000 Registration.
    • Provide support and advise staff.
    • Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) – including developing and processing Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs) and performing part analysis as directed by MRB members.
    • Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. – Electronics/General Science or Mechanical Engineering) from a college or technical school; or 10 years of related experience in a Manufacturing environment).
    • Minimum 7 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Must have experience with requirements and auditing of International, Automotive, and Aerospace (ISO 9000, ISO 14000, QS 9000, and AS 9100) quality standards and SPC techniques.
    • Ability to comprehend and apply common scientific and technical information, financial reports, and legal documents.
    • Ability to recognize and direct the implementation of advanced statistical techniques such as frequency distribution, statistical process control, design of experiments, reliability testing and analysis, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factorial analysis, etc.
    • Availability for non-standard or extended work hours.
    • Requires self motivation and ability to complete projects with strict guidelines.
    • Must possess excellent figure aptitude and be detail oriented.
    • Computer literate to a trainer level in all Microsoft office applications.
    • Minimum 20/25 vision requirement.
    • Ability to use various measurement devices.
    • Strong follow-up skills.
    • Strong oral and written communications skills; must have a pleasant and helpful telephone manner.
    • Lift equipment up to 50 pounds
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Background in project management experience essential.
    • Requires the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Requires the ability to differentiate between colors.
    • Working knowledge of various SPC techniques.
    • Working knowledge or experience of first piece, PPAP.
    • Requires the ability to understand basic electrical techniques and theories.
