Our Senior Project Engineer – Communications will project manage the product development activities of products per customer requirements from concept to production release – engineering, performance, aesthetics/design language, cost, quality, and schedule.  Responsibilities include coordinating the activities between the engineering disciplines (EE, ME, SW), sourcing, manufacturing engineering, production and in some cases suppliers, customers, and partners to achieve product goals. Must be big-picture and detailed-oriented thinking. Strong, proactive management and people skills to encourage collaboration and keep a project on track.

• Work with the project team to develop product requirements and performance specifications that meet or exceed customer requirements
• Develop project schedules and milestones working with the project team that meet or exceed customer expectations
• Adhere to administrative procedures in order to keep a project on schedule and within budget
• Anticipate problems. Ability to address root cause issues with technical team using problem solving skills and execute contingency planning with project team to keep schedules on track – engineering, sourcing, production, and quality
• Support all project team disciplines as needed to meet requirements, project schedules/milestones, and goals
• Pending project size, may be required to be part of the project team – engineering, analysis, etc.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of engineering and scientific principles which can be utilized to develop products
• Maintain and regularly update NRE hours, tooling costs, part costs and test costs
• Manage BOMs, engineering change notices, and all project related documents
• Runs weekly project meetings to keep a cross-functional team informed and on task
• Present monthly project reviews to senior management – schedule, costs, issues
• Adhere to OTTO’s phase gate process and ensure phase requirements are completed and documented for each phase
• Assist with other related duties as required or assigned

• BS in Engineering – ME, EE, SW, General
• Minimal 8 years’ experience
• Project management training a plus
• Good people skills – able to negotiate and achieve results without direct reporting authority
• Self-starter.  Drives to closure and meeting project objectives
• Problem solving, management and planning skills, risk management
• Previous hands-on engineering experience – concept through production
• Must be able to use Microsoft Project
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong oral and communications skills and coordination with groups internal and external to OTTO
• Experience using CAD, analysis tools
