The position will have general responsibility for off-shore sourcing of components and products for direct or OEM sales. Extensive interface with Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Quality on new product development required. In addition, this position will have assigned commodities and be responsible for production purchasing activities.
Actively participates on cross functional project teams.
Identify, evaluate and recommend sources of supply for new projects with emphasis on both cost and time-to-market requirements.
Obtain quotations, prepare and place purchase orders for new tooling, components and samples.
Monitor and report upon, as required, supplier progress pertaining to new projects.
Expedite deliveries as necessary to meet prototype/pilot build schedules.
Support Engineering and Sales in the development of new products through the development of current suppliers and the sourcing of new suppliers, with emphasis on Pac-Rim opportunities.
Cultivate new product, process and technology improvements from existing and potential suppliers.
Conduct supplier audits and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain respective supplier quote documentation in business system and database.
Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) as needed – including developing and processing Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs) and assisting in part analysis.
Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum 5 years related experience required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and achieve desired results in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
Experience with commercial as well as consumer electronics products preferred.
Solid Microsoft Office/PC experience required, experience with Microsoft Project a plus.
Pac-Rim sourcing experience and international travel required between 10-15%
Ability to influence and interface with all department levels.
Engineering background or degree a plus.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Technical ability to learn quickly and apply the knowledge towards new engineering concepts.
Extensive project management experience.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects at various stages of completion.
